The lift truck is an important piece of equipment in most companies which operate distribution centers, warehouses, storage handling and industrial facilities. This wonder machinery, the forklift is made of many parts, like the important carriage, the engine, the power source and the wheels. Forklifts usually have various kinds of attachments too. The following are some of the most important parts of a forklift.
Lift Truck Engine - the lift truck is designed with a power source at the back of the equipment. Different kinds of forklift truck have different types of engine which need varying power sources. Like for instance, a forklift with an internal combustion engine can have as its power source any of the following: CNG gas, LP gas, diesel or gasoline. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.
Frame of The Truck - the base of the lift truck and the most important of all the forklift components is the truck frame. This forms the machine's core. All other lift truck parts are connected to the base, like the mast, wheels, axles counterweight and overhead guard. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks can be part of the frame assembly too.
Counterweight Lift Truck Parts - While lifting heavy cargo, the counterweight enables the machinery to be balanced. This specific component is cast iron and comes attached to the rear of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the truck frame to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric lift truck gives balance and may function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - The cab is also known as the operator compartment. Lift trucks would sometimes have closed cabs while others would be open to the air. There are lots of components situated within the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such important parts like for instance the levers, switches, steering wheel, operator controls, pedals and seats. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
