Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on a straight, extendable arm which is located on a rotating turntable. Typically, telescoping boom lifts are used for jobs which require reaching at maximum height, exceeding other types of lifts. Like for instance, employees could perform exterior repairs or renovations on medium sized buildings but utilizing these lifts rather than having the additional work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The bucket of the boom lift generally only holds one worker. These buckets are more suitable to particular tasks such as electrical repair, rather than general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are available with both indoor and outdoor tires and are available in gas or electric configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Underneath the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the equipment gets its name. When the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. Because these types of machinery must be directly positioned below the work location, these units are way more limited in their use compared to boom lifts.
The scissor lift typically has a bigger platform that allows the operator to control the lift to access a bigger work area once the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these kinds of machines, as they should sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are great for being utilized for cladding or window installation, as they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a good option for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Bucket trucks, cherry pickers and boom trucks each refer to the class a kind of utility vehicle utilized specifically for vertical work. Usually, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and controls the machinery. There is a bucket for where the employee can stand along with an actuator arm for raising the boom and a winch for lifting.
Cherry pickers could raise employees up to heights that were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to raise both heavy materials and equipment for one place to another. There are different kinds of cranes that could perform various purposes. Both of these different kinds of machinery excel at various tasks and are suitable for certain applications and accomplishing certain tasks.
