What is the Difference between Pneumatic Tire and Cushion Tire?
Knowing the difference between pneumatic tire forklifts and cushion tire forklifts is one of the most common questions regarding this type of equipment. Each tire type is specially ideal for different requirements.
Like vehicle tires, pneumatic tires have air inside of them. These types of tires are great for indoor application but they are more useful in outdoor "yard" applications and on gravel and uneven surfaces.
Cushion tires are designed as a solid industrial tire which is used mostly for indoor operation. These tires are able to be utilized outdoors on just asphalt surfaces. If you do drive cushion tires outside, there is an alternative to get traction tires on the front of the machine. These are known as the drive tires. The steer tires or the back tires are specifically made for steering. Traction tires situated on the rear of the forklift would simply wear out faster. Thus, if you do have to work outside, having the smooth tires on the back and traction on the front would be the most economical and safest way to operate.
What is the distinction between Solid Pneumatic and Air Pneumatic tires?
When trying to determine the main distinction between the two tire types, it could be a bit tricky. They both work in the same outdoor situations like gravel, and asphalt. The main difference between the two tire types is solid pneumatics are made of solid rubber. This means they are strong and you cannot puncture, pop or gouge them. These tires are more costly compared to air pneumatic tires as they are made up of way more rubber. These types of tires are best suited for places like lumber yards and scrap yards where there can be lots of debris or sharp things on the ground.
The pneumatic tire could be punctured accidentally. You can get flat tires from them when this happens. Before operating a forklift with air pneumatic tires, be sure that the yard is free of sharp metals, nails and scrap debris and by checking your work area. In most applications, standard air pneumatic tires function really great.
