Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to pile up supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage places orderly. The reach truck comes in quite a few types: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This version has telescopic forks designed to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet needs to go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide beneath the pallet and grasp the sides also. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This particular model is best in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Normally more than one type of reach truck is needed inside warehouses. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to use and could maximize available storage space while increasing productivity.
